We are the home of Hygge, which is Nordic but doesn’t really translate to just one word. Hygge means creating a warm atmosphere and enjoying the good things in life with good people. Hygge is the warm glow of a fireplace. Friends and family around the dinner table is very hygge. Coziness, familiarity, comfort, good life, fellowship, Nordic simpleness – they’re all hygge too.

Hotel Lilla Roberts, with its restaurant and bar, is created around a very special building. Originally designed in 1908 by one of Finland’s top Architects, Selim A. Lindqvist, the building acted as the head office for Helsinki’s Energy Works and housed, among other things, a power plant providing energy for the city center during most of the 20th century. During a career which spanned from 1888 to 1935, Mr. Lindqvist designed more than 160 buildings mainly in Helsinki but some in Hanko, St. Petersburg and Berlin as well. His most famous buildings in Helsinki are The Aleksi 13 Bulding in downtown, Villa Ensi in Eira, the Tram Halls in Töölö and of course this hotel. He brought many new innovations to Finland and is thus referred to as the Archtitect who designed many things “First time in Finland”. The new hotel now has 130 boutique guest rooms and 2 spacious meeting rooms.
